Sep 30, 2011 – Stop me if you’ve heard this before: A Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker was fined for an illegal hit on a quarterback.
That’s the word from Steelers LB James Farrior who confirmed the NFL fined him $15,000 for a hit he laid on Indianapolis Colts QB Kerry Collins, who left the game with an injury. It’s not clear if that’s the hit that injured Collins — he received a concussion — because he didn’t leave the game until the following quarter.
For his part, Farrior thinks he was fined not necessarily because the hit was illegal (as the league has indicated it was) but because Collins received a concussion on the play.
“No doubt about it,” Farrior said. “With everything that’s going on now, I think that’s what happened.”
Farrior’s agent, Ralph Cindrich, indicated on Twitter that he plans to appeal the fine.
Bad call on James Farrior 15K fine. Still targeting Steelers. Good, clean hit. He will appeal Commish fine to the Commissh-no kidding.
